A current CPR card is required to take both the ACE and AFAA certification exams and to teach in fitness facilities. Our 2-Year Certification is geared toward the fitness professional. Renewing your CPR Certification is also required for all future certification renewals.

The ACE and AFAA Personal Trainer certification exams include questions on these testing proceduresso if you are taking the November exam, this workshop is a must! Learn the proper protocols for establishing a fitness assessment program for your clients. Be ready to practice assessment techniques for cardiovascular, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition.
The instructor: Elie Cossa has over twelve years of experience in the fitness industry. She is a full-time personal trainer and also teaches group fitness classes, educational courses and continuing education workshops and master classes. Elie is certified through ACE, ACSM, and AFAA. Her focus is in post-rehab training and health education, particularly for breast cancer survivors, but also works with seniors, other special populations and the general public.

Workshops are all part of the Samayama 300hour curriculum and attendance in 22 hours is required to receive certificate of completion for the course. Participants not registered for the 300-hour course are able to take these workshops on a “per class” basis.

Tantra Dance is a merging of Yoga and Dance and will include exploring the Chakras, balancing our male and female energies, sensual dance and music, and the application of Tantra Dance in our daily practice. Arrive ready to play, unfold, liberate and live life more fully and joyfully! No previous experience is necessary.
The instructor: Michelle AVA approaches movement as a healing art. With a Masters degree in dance education, she has been a vital force in the Washington DC dance and holistic community for over 3 decades. She has dedicated her work to fusing modern dance with yoga, meditation and spiritual practice to assist others in discovering their creative expression. This class is designed to build strength, flexibility and confidence in girls ages 1317. Surrounded by a supportive environment focused on fitness, teen girls will be able to relax, have fun, be physically active and make new friends. No prior experience in yoga needed. The class includes the book Breathe: Yoga for Teens.
The instructor: Vanessa Bilanceri has worked with young people through a variety of organizations including Latin American Youth Center, Yoga Tales and the Girl Scouts.

Once you have become certified and have developed basic skills, it is necessary to gain practical experience. Fit Physique provides the opportunity for trainers, fitness instructors and yoga teachers to mentor with a staff member or instructor at City Fitness Gym. After initially observing your mentor’s style of training or teaching, you will begin working with clients or classes on one skill at a time completing the program ready to break into the health and fitness industry.
